Governance

The ISA's governance structure integrates decision-making across Regional Committees, the Standing Committee, and the ISA Assembly, which is the apex body. Regional Committees consolidate inputs from the Members of the ISA across its four regions of Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America-Caribbean, and Europe-Others. The Standing Committee, comprising the President, Co-President, and Regional Vice-Presidents, deliberates on Regional Committee recommendations. The ministerial-level Assembly, convened annually, addresses substantive matters such as the Director General's selection, ISA objectives, and budget approval.

Participation at high ministerial levels ensures fruitful collaboration. These governance meetings facilitate strategic discussions on ISA initiatives and foster cooperation among member countries. They also allow the ISA Secretariat to enhance collaboration with member countries and provide opportunities for mutual cooperation and partnership identification.

The Assembly assesses programme implementation, including solar energy deployment, performance, reliability, cost, and finance scale. Annually, member country representatives exercise votes to decide crucial matters, with non-voting participants like observers, prospective member nations, partner organizations, and special invitees present. The ISA Framework Agreement allows special Assembly meetings under unique circumstances, ensuring flexibility in governance processes.
